The Internet of Things (IoT) is helping consumers make their lives easier, but it’s also opening consumers to more security risks, and the general internet as a whole to attacks at scale that were previously unachievable. Let’s face it, in the real world we have found that data privacy in the U.S. is given quite freely when compared to the rest of the world. When looking at individual items independently in our homes, we are not always concerned about someone controlling our dishwasher, turning up our heat or dimming our lights. At least not concerned enough to pay a premium over other, less costly alternative. However, looking at devices in your home as an attacker will undoubtedly do, insecure devices on your network are ultimately a pivot point for attackers. A pivot point that an attacker can own with very little risk of exposure, giving them full access to parts of you home or office network that matter significantly to consumers.

This panel will discuss the effect of IoT security, not just in terms of how it affects individual households with devices, but what access to existing networks means for manufacturers and households.
