Boulder Startup Week

This event brings together investment professionals from across the state to share what they are seeing in their regions. The panel will explore resources across the state, and help investors gain a better understanding as to where and how to put their capital to work in Boulder and beyond!

This panel will discuss the role that Corporate Venture plays in the fundraising landscape.  You will hear thoughts from people in the corporate VC world and those who invest alongside them.  There will be a debate, conflicting viewpoints, and new perspectives that come from the conversation.

Angel investors are individuals who invest in entrepreneurial firms. Unlike venture capitalists who invest “other people’s money”, angel investors invest their own money, typically in amounts ranging from $10,000 to $250,000. Although it has been around for decades, angel investing as a source of funding for entrepreneurial startups has gained more prominence in recent years. This session will attempt to de-mystify the process of angel investing for aspiring and novice angel investors. It will explain the major steps and financial terms associated with funding a startup company in user-friendly terms and provide a real-world case that illustrates the challenges and opportunities faced by angel investors. As we seek to drive diversity in entrepreneurship, one way to do that is to bring more underrepresented groups to the funding side.  Women and minorities are especially encouraged to attend!

The investment landscape is different depending on the location of the company. Join us for a discussion on what this landscape looks like, and the difference in evaluations between Boulder, Boston, and San Francisco and the dynamics that differ between these econonomies.
